Incomati River lodge is a small exclusive coastal lodge in Mozambique just North of Maputo set on the banks of the Incomati River near the beach front. The lodge has just 4 units offering full board and lodging or self catering accommodation with a self drive option. Offering great seafood with many activities including boating, canoeing, fishing sun-downer cruises, horse riding, beach tours and bird watching.

Where?
Incomati River Lodge is set on the Incomati Estuary outside the village of Marracuene.

The lodge has 4 en-suite units and all but one of these is perched over the wide river with a private deck.

Marracuene is a mere 40km from Maputo yet the character of the area is remote and rural with small reeded villages , herds of spotted cattle and fisher men in home made boats out on the river.

The estuary is home to a large variety of birds as are the surrounding flood plains.

The river is extremely tidal with both hippo and dolphins occasionally spotted from the lodge.

Local folk make up the willing staff body and they introduce visitors to the area, the river and surrounding beaches.

What’s to do?
Daily activities include canoeing, swimming, fishing, boating on the river and to the ocean at the mouth, birding walks on the flood plains, beach excursions and cultural trips into the village or the city of Maputo. We do not offer snorkelling or diving but can arrange extra activities.

Our chef specialises in the unique local cuisine of African essence with the Portugese influence giving visitors the opportunity to sample some of the seafood the country is famed for.

Come and enjoy the local beers, beautiful beaches and Mozambiquean hospitality in a rare private spot where you can forget about the outside world.
